I Beat the Chick With Cancer

Stephanie reminded me of this fact as soon as I beat her for the VERY FIRST time in heads-up Monopoly. Don't worry I still did a celebration dance on top of her houses and spiked her game piece (the old shoe) while shouting "I am the GREATEST". Today was a good day, the perfect end to a good week. Not only did I beat Stephanie's pants off in Monopoly, but we went to church for the first time since we started this adventure. It was good to see everyone at Stephanie's home church. We also spent last night at her parents house with all the dogs, and got to see some of her very good friends. All in all Steph has been feeling good, and I've been loving seeing that. We are both hoping and praying the very bleak picture Dr. Fields painted of treatment doesn't suddenly come true in the next two and a half weeks, but if it does at least we were warned.

In other news Stephanie has found great joy in showing off her beautiful hair line. You can't tell she's lost her hair unless she shows you, so she spends at least 30 seconds of every conversation showing that off. The rest of most of her conversations involve showing off her arm and proclaiming how many treatments she has left. Her arm really is cool, she even lets people touch it, which kids especially get a kick out of.

She has exactly two weeks and three days left, and three of those days are Mondays (meaning chemo). Still no word on when she will have another scan, her research indicates it could be as much as a month after treatment is done, but we are still definitely looking forward to it whenever it may be.

Wow!!!! I'm first!!! Guess that is supposed to be something special so I'm sorry Anna. Anyway, it was a good week and a nice weekend. The dogs are conked out. It took about a dozen trips outside and some rough housing in the den, and dad pulling out the stakes. At least Maggie and Eliza haven't been too mean to them tonight. Hope it goes well tomorrow and I will see you Tuesday. Oh yea, beating the sick girl, must feel real proud of yourself. Can't believe she let you win!!!!! Love you both, MOM

Steph,

I warned you that Warner had no sympothy for disabled people. "Tray Snatcher"

Once again Warner, you should be ashamed. :)

I'm glad to hear that the treatments are going so well. Hopefully the taste buds will come back soon enough.

Love ya,

Dawn W.

The mist hangs heavy and blankets nature in her last embrace. The stars give up their last glorious show of the tumultuous night. The air is heavy with foreboding but yet you have come to cherish the feeling as it infuses your very soul.
You rise eagerly and dress for the coming battle. A check is made of your weapons, are they ready and have you trained adequately.
You make your approach, quickly at first but then approach warily, this is no ordinary foe. Dipping quietly across the great expanse you have come to know as if second nature.
Every sense you posses now cries out for satisfaction. You listen and feel his presence. One last prayer thanking God for this opportunity and his world.
Then you here him, at first a quiet stirring, then a multitude of heart stopping screams, yes he is there.
You salute him, present him your offering and stand at the ready as if frozen in fear. He takes your treasure and your parabolic figure lets you know the fight is on!
He jumps and in a half sneer he escapes into the pristine wilderness that he knows as home.
The battle is over, we live to fight on. Again the scene will be played over and over and we are grateful for this and imploringly hope it never ends.

Steph, hope you can be there sometime soon!
Where am I?

Love
Dad
